Durable medical equipment (DME) in good working condition is accepted for drop-off in the upper lot of the Shady Grove Transfer Station. You may request durable medical equipment through the Maryland Durable Medical Equipment Re-Use program.

For large, heavy items or ten (10) or more items to be donated, a collection pick-up can be scheduled at dme.mdoa@maryland.gov or at 240-230-8000. For a receipt of your donation, please make a list of the item(s), take a photo of the item(s) in the donation container, and email to dme.mdoa@maryland.gov.

These items are NOT acceptable in the DME Program

  • Oxygen or Respiratory Equipment
    • Oxygen Tanks and regulators
    • Suction Machines
    • CPAP’s and BiPAP’s
  • Heavily Soiled Equipment
  • Heavily Corroded Equipment
  • Incontinence Supplies or Disposable items such as:
    • Catheters and Supplies
    • Oxygen Tubing
    • Adult Diapers and Wipes (unless in a sealed, unopened container)
  • Orthopedic Braces such as Knee, Wrist, Back etc.
