Tires from bicycles and personal passenger vehicles

We accept clean tires and inner tubes only from residents at no charge at our Shady Grove Processing Facility and Transfer Station. Tires must be clean of dirt and mud.

Follow the signs to the Recycling Area. There, look for the trailer labeled "Tires".

You may bring up to 5 tires per year.

Tires may be up to 33 inches in diameter. We accept tires with or without rims.

We also accept bicycle tires and tubes.

Driver’s License will be scanned for tracking the number of tires each resident brings to the facility.

Tires from commercial vehicles and non-residential sources

Sorry, we cannot accept tires from these sources.

Tires from community or illegal dumping cleanups

  1. Contact the State of Maryland Scrap Tire Program.
  2. If you do not qualify for the State of Maryland Scrap Tire Program call Montgomery County's Customer Service Center at 311 (out-of-County: 240-777-0311) before bringing tires from community or illegal dumping cleanups. We will help you determine whether the tires involved are acceptable in our program. Please note that the County RRM does not arrange for pickup or collection of tires from community events or illegal dump sites.
