1 p.m.

Public Safety Headquarters

100 Edison Park Drive, Gaithersburg

(Inside - Terrace Level)

County Executive Isiah Leggett, Montgomery County Councilmember Sidney Katz, Police Chief  J. Thomas Manger, Director of the Department of Liquor Control Robert Dorfman, Director of the Montgomery County Department of Police Traffic Division Captain Thomas Didone, Retired National CEO of Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) Chuck Hurley representing Noah on Patrol; President of the Washington Regional Alcohol Program (WRAP) Kurt Erickson, and others will relaunch the “I/We Take It Personally” anti-drunk driving public awareness campaign.

In their continuing efforts to further publicize the importance of becoming personally invested in preventing drunk driving injuries and deaths, the Montgomery County Department of Liquor Control (DLC) and Department of Police (MCPD), have also partnered with WRAP and Noah On Patrol (commemorating fallen MCPD Officer Noah Leotta),

The next step of this nationally-recognized campaign, introduced in the summer of 2017, features 30 DLC delivery trucks and two delivery vans “wrapped” with a police anti-drunk driving message poster. The program encourages people who are going out and consuming alcohol to plan a safe ride home.

This new type of public messaging rolls out just as we begin the fall and winter celebration seasons. The “wrapped” posters, designed for approximately seven years of use, will continue to provide this important message throughout the year for many years to come. This program supports the County’s Vision Zero initiative to reduce severe and fatal collisions among vehicle occupants, bicyclists and pedestrians.

(Event will take place indoors on the PSHQ Terrace Level with access for media setup available at 12:30 p.m.)
