Montgomery County, Area Hospitals and Mental Health Advocates Present "The S Word," a Documentary About Survivors of Suicide

What: Showing of The S Word, a groundbreaking documentary that shatters the silence around suicide and reveals a movement of survivors from a cross-section of American fighting to change how we deal with our ultimate taboo. Film screening is followed by a community dialogue.

When: Thursday, October 25; 6:30 – 8:30 p.m.

Why:  A report recently released by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) showed that rates of death by suicide in the United States have risen by roughly 25 percent in the last few decades. Further, suicide is now the second leading cause of death for people ages 15 to 24 in the United States.
