County Executive Elrich to join Pro-Choice Leaders for Rally in Wheaton Following Supreme Court Decision to Overturn Roe v. Wade

Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich plans on attending a grassroots rally Friday evening in protest of the Supreme Court Decision to effectively end federal protections for abortions.

“The Supreme Court ruling today jeopardizes women, rolls back fundamental rights, and, ultimately, will significantly impact the health and life of many women in our country," said Elrich. "This ruling turns the clock back on the progress that has been made to ensure the right of women to have an abortion. This is not about law, this is about a twisted ideology."

Elrich will attend the rally, which is organized by Pro-Choice Maryland, a group working on behalf of women and reproductive rights. People outraged by the Supreme Court decision will gather at Marian Fryer Plaza in Wheaton starting at 5 p.m.
