For Immediate Release: Wednesday, March 29, 2023
Montgomery County’s Police Accountability Board (PAB) will hold its quarterly meeting with chiefs from the different law enforcement agencies in the County from 7-9 p.m. on Thursday, March 30. The meeting will be held in the lower lobby of the Executive Office Building in Rockville. It is open to the public and also can be viewed via Zoom.
The PAB is a state-mandated board. County Executives throughout Maryland appoint boards in their respective counties and board members are confirmed by the County Councils in those counties. Last year, County Executive Marc Elrich’s appointees were confirmed by the Montgomery County Council.
The PAB is tasked with receiving complaints from the public and forwarding them to law enforcement agencies, reviewing policing policies, providing policy advice, reporting on disciplinary matters stemming from public complaints about police misconduct and proposing new procedures for police accountability and discipline.
It is separate and not affiliated with the Policing Advisory Commission, which was established by the County Council in 2019 to act in an advisory role to the Council to help with policing matters and recommend policies.
Anyone interested in attending Thursday’s meeting in person or virtually is encouraged to sign up ahead of time.
