Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich to Join Montgomery County Coalition for the Homeless to Protect Permanent Supportive Housing

For Immediate Release: Tuesday, November 4, 2025

Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich will join the Montgomery County Coalition for the Homeless (MCCH) for a “Standing With Solutions” rally on Wednesday, Nov. 5, at the Seneca Heights Apartments in Gaithersburg. The event will raise awareness about the devastating impact of proposed federal cuts to Permanent Supportive Housing (PSH) and Rapid Rehousing (RRH) programs. The event will feature remarks from County Executive Elrich, Councilmembers Evan Glass and Dawn Luedtke, MCCH leadership, and residents directly impacted by the potential funding loss.

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) is considering a 70% cut to Continuum of Care funding, which supports PSH and RRH programs in Montgomery County and across the country. This could impact over 500 local households—including 757 adults with disabilities, children, and seniors—placing them at risk of returning to homelessness. The rally aims to spotlight the human impact of these proposed cuts and call for continued federal support.
