Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich and County Council President Kate Stewart will be joined by members of the Council, Montgomery County Department of Transportation (MCDOT) Director Chris Conklin, and community leaders for the launch of the County’s Operation Green Light Initiative and the unveiling of the Ride On “Operation Green Light” themed bus at a ceremony to honor veterans.
The ceremony will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 10, in the plaza adjacent to the Ike Leggett Executive Office Building (LEOB), located at 101 Monroe St. in Rockville.
Speakers and community leaders will arrive at 10:30 a.m. in MCDOT’s #OperationGreenLight Ride On bus, which will be wrapped in a design depicting the U.S. flag, an outline of veterans, and highlighting Operation Green Light, a campaign honoring Veterans. The Montgomery County Veterans Affairs website and resource line printed is printed on the back of the bus. Internal bus cards on nearly 400 MCDOT Ride On buses will share resources with veterans throughout November.
The ceremony will commence with the singing of the national anthem by Richard Montgomery High School students Nala Ashe-Moncet and Alexa Thompson.
Dr. Lolita Weedon, U.S. Army (Ret.), with the Montgomery County Office of Human Resources will serve as Master of Ceremonies.

Speakers will be available for interviews and photos in front of the MCDOT #OperationGreenLight Ride On bus as they disembark before the event at the Jefferson Street side of the LEOB plaza.
Veterans have also been invited to attend and gather in the plaza beforehand. The bus will be available as a backdrop for photos at the roundabout in front of the LEOB following the press conference.
