Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich and Councilmember Sidney Katz will be joined by Maryland State Delegate Julie Palakovich Carr, WRS Inc. Real Estate Investments Principal Kevin Rogers, City of Gaithersburg Mayor Jud Ashman, Montgomery County Department of Transportation (MCDOT) Director Chris Conklin, and other area leaders for a ceremony to mark the beginning of a partnership between the County and WRS to relocate and upgrade the Lakeforest Transit Center. 

The new transit center is part of a plan to transform the closed Lakeforest Mall into a mixed-use development that will support residential housing, entertainment and shopping and public gathering spaces. Lakeforest Mall opened in 1978 and served local residents for 45 years.
