New Maryland Laws Became Effective Oct. 1

Hundreds of new laws took effect including a pedestrian safety bill that increases the maximum fine for drivers who fail to stop for pedestrians from $500 to $1,000 and a bill that increases the severity of penalties for drunk and drugged driving offenses.
