Domestic Violence Awareness Month

Council Vice President Sidney Katz and County Executive Marc Elrich presented a proclamation recognizing October as National Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Domestic violence occurs in all age, racial, gender, religious, socio-economic, educational and occupational groups. It can involve physical, sexual, psychological, emotional and financial abuse aimed at intimidating, humiliating and frightening the victim. On average 24 people per minute are victims of some form domestic violence in the United States. The proclamation recognized the County’s Family Justice Center for its excellent work and advocacy on behalf of victims.
