MCDOT Installs New Pedestrian Beacons

Hybrid beacons were recently installed on Willard Ave. in Chevy Chase, Tuckerman Ln. in N. Bethesda, Democracy Blvd./Davis Library in Bethesda, and Summit/Brookfield in Kensington.

These beacons, sometimes called HAWK (High-Intensity Activated Crosswalk) signals, are designed to help pedestrians safely cross busy streets. MCDOT has been conducting community outreach to promote their use and educate drivers/pedestrians on how to use them.
