On May 9, 2023, the Council presented a proclamation with community leaders to commemorate May as Jewish American Heritage Month, led by Council President Evan Glass, Council Vice President Andrew Friedson and Councilmember Sidney Katz.
Jewish Americans have made enormous contributions to America’s cultural, scientific, artistic, intellectual and political life, and Montgomery County is home to nearly half of Maryland’s Jewish population. The Council encourages residents to learn more about the heritage and contributions of Jewish Americans and to observe this month with appropriate programs, activities and ceremonies.
