On Sept. 19, 2023, Councilmembers Dawn Luedtke, Natali Fani-González, Laurie-Anne Sayles and Council President Evan Glass presented a proclamation recognizing September as National Service Dog Month.
As of 2022, there were 16,000 service dogs from accredited programs in the US offering services to adults, children, and veterans with physical disabilities.
Joining the Councilmembers were officials and service dogs from Canine Companions, Fidos for Feedom, Hero Dogs Inc, Warrior Canine Connection and the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office.
