Recognizing Cecilia Rojas of the Community Reach Language Opportunity Program
Council President Evan Glass and Councilmembers Will Jawando, Kristin Mink and Gabe Albornoz present a proclamation to honor Cecilia Rojas, the Maryland Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) 2023 Lifetime Achievement Award Honoree and longtime Program Director for the Montgomery Coalition for Adult English Literacy (MCAEL) partner organization Community Reach of Montgomery County.
The Maryland TESOL Lifetime Achievement Award is an honor given to an individual who has been working in the TESOL field in Maryland for at least 15 years and has made substantial and exemplary contributions to the field. Nearly 10,000 adult students have taken English language classes through Cecilia Rojas’ program, and over 4,000 children of English language learners have participated in childcare programming.
