On Tuesday, May 7, 2024, the Montgomery County Council was joined by community members to present a proclamation commemorating May as Jewish American Heritage Month. Montgomery County is home to the largest Jewish population in the state, with 45 percent of Maryland’s Jewish residents living in our community. In Montgomery County our diversity is our strength, and Jewish American Heritage Month is a time when we celebrate the culture and history of Jewish Americans and their sacrifices and contributions to our nation, state, and county are honored and uplifted.
