Recognizing the Retirement of Chief Marcus Jones

This week, Council President Andrew Friedson, Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich and the Council’s Public Safety Committee, including Councilmembers Sidney Katz, Dawn Luedtke and Kristin Mink, presented a proclamation to commemorate the retirement of Marcus Jones, chief of the Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD). Chief Jones has been a decorated member of law enforcement in Montgomery County for over 38 years, serving most recently as the 17th appointed Police Chief of the Montgomery County, Maryland Department of Police since November 2019. The Council and County Executive share their deepest appreciation for the enduring contributions Chief Jones has made to Montgomery County.
