Council Spotlight

Lung Cancer Awareness Month

On Nov. 12, 2024, Councilmember Evan Glass presented a proclamation in honor of Lung Cancer Awareness Month. Lung cancer is the third most common form of cancer and the leading cause of cancer deaths in the United States. The American Cancer Society estimates that over 234,000 new lung cancer cases and 125,000 lung cancer deaths will be reported in 2024. The Council calls upon County agencies, local health organizations and residents to raise awareness about the importance of screening for lung cancer and to support members of the community and their families undergoing diagnosis and treatment.
