Montgomery County recognizes Dec. 1 as Rosa Parks Day.
Parks is best remembered for her brave act of resistance on December 1, 1955, when she refused to give up her bus seat to a white man in Montgomery, Alabama. Her actions inspired the local Black community to organize the Montgomery Bus Boycott, led by Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
To honor Parks, MCDOT will post placards inside all Ride On buses throughout December.
