Council Spotlight

Rosa Parks Day

On Dec. 3, 2024, Councilmember Laurie-Anne Sayles and Council Vice President Will Jawando and County Executive Marc Elrich present a proclamation recognizing Rosa Parks Day in Montgomery County.

Mrs. Rosa Parks’ courageous resistance in the face of oppression is a testament to how a single person can take one action that ignites a mass movement, changes the course of history, inspires millions in their fight to advance equality, and uplifts the disenfranchised against injustice. Montgomery County is committed to upholding her legacy as we advance toward a society prioritizing equity and equality.
