Muslim American Heritage Month 2024
On Jan. 14, 2024, the Montgomery County Council was joined by residents and community leaders to proclaim January as Muslim American Heritage Month in Montgomery County. According to the United Maryland Muslim Council, approximately 350,000 Muslim Americans from 60 different countries call Maryland home, and approximately three percent of Montgomery County residents are Muslim American.
Montgomery County is proud to commemorate the diverse cultural traditions of its residents and seeks to provide inclusive space and opportunity to better understand, recognize and appreciate the rich histories, significant contributions and shared principles of our more than one million residents.
