On Jan. 14, 2024, the Montgomery County Council was joined by residents and community leaders to proclaim January as Muslim American Heritage Month in Montgomery County. According to the United Maryland Muslim Council, approximately 350,000 Muslim Americans from 60 different countries call Maryland home, and approximately three percent of Montgomery County residents are Muslim American.
