Services to End and Prevent Homelessness Community Memorial Service

On Thursday, June 5, Montgomery County held the 2025 Community Memorial Service, hosted by the County’s Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS). The memorial honored those who were served by Montgomery County’s Continuum of Care who passed away while experiencing homelessness in 2024 and 2025.

Speakers at the memorial included Councilmember Gabe Albornoz, who serves as the chair of the Council’s Health and Human Services (HHS) Committee, County Executive Marc Elrich, Pastor Darryl A. Burton of the Converted Heart Christian Methodist Episcopal Church, and Patrick Sugrue.

At this year’s memorial, the Interagency Commission on Homelessness presented the first Terence DeWayne Hill Memorial Award to Lisa Lowe, chair of the People’s Committee. The award is a tribute to Terence’s legacy of tirelessly serving his community, building bridges and supporting those seeking help.
