World Elder Abuse Awareness Day
On June 10, 2025, Councilmember Sidney Katz presented a proclamation recognizing World Elder Abuse Awareness Day. By 2040, one in five Montgomery County residents will be 65 and older, and one in three will be 55 and older. Montgomery County, as an “Age-Friendly Community,” strives to be a place where residents can thrive to their full potential.
According to the World Health Organization, roughly one in six older adults experience some form of abuse during their lifetime. We urge community members to join us in recognizing the contributions elders make to our County and renewing a focus on the prevention and response to acts of abuse against older adults.
