Taxicab Rate Change

Beginning on Sunday, Feb.1, all Montgomery County taxicabs including wheelchair accessible vehicle taxicabs will implement a rate change from $2 per mile to $2.50 per mile. Additionally, a nighttime surcharge of $1 is being established for trips between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. The $1 nighttime surcharge is designed to improve late-night service availability by compensating operators for working during hours when demand could be lower and operating costs are higher. There is also a public health and safety aspect to incentivizing more taxicabs to be on the road in the evenings. Ensuring multiple, viable transportation options is essential.
