County Executive Ike Leggett has designated the week of May 8, 2016, as the inaugural Economic Development Week. Economic Development Week was created to highlight the importance and value of economic development and to celebrate professionals in the field who work to transform lives and communities. Montgomery County recognizes the critical importance of a thriving business community and economic prosperity to the quality of life of our residents. In July, Montgomery County will transition to a new chapter in economic development by replacing the current Department of Economic Development with an Economic Development Corporation led by the private sector.
