PROMOTING MONTGOMERY’S AGRICULTURE

Sara Lechlider, who is a senior at Damascus High School, talks about the importance of promoting Montgomery County’s agricultural heritage as she was honored by the Montgomery County Council on Oct. 25. Sara, who grew up on her family’s farm near Laytonsville, participated in the Miss Maryland Agricultural Program this summer, where she was selected as the first runner-up in the 2016 competition at the Maryland State Fair. At the ceremonies in Rockville were, from left to right: County Council President Nancy Floreen; Sara’s parents Doug and Robin; and Jeremy Criss, manager of the County’s Agricultural Services Division.
