The radio show will highlight the Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service’s (MCFRS) community outreach initiatives aimed at educating residents on critical fire safety measures and preventing fire-related tragedies. These efforts also include offering free home safety inspections.

This summer, MCFRS will provide bilingual information in English and Spanish at various locations throughout Montgomery County. Residents can learn more and schedule a free home safety inspection by visiting one of the following locations during the specified times:

The second segment will highlight the 26th anniversary of IMPACT Silver Spring, a nonprofit organization based in Montgomery County dedicated to building a racially and economically equitable society. To mark this special occasion, IMPACT is hosting a vibrant cultural celebration featuring live music, traditional folkloric dance, and a showcase of local artisans and entrepreneurs who have flourished with the organization’s support. Residents are invited to join the celebration at the Silver Spring Veterans Plaza on Tuesday, June 10 at 6:30 p.m. The event is free and open to all.

The radio show will conclude with information about an upcoming health fair hosted by the Consulate of El Salvador and Emerson Clinic in Silver Spring. The event will offer medical check-ups, cholesterol and diabetes screenings, blood pressure tests, and more. No appointments or registration are required. A vaccination clinic for both children and adults will also be available. The health fair will take place on Monday, June 9 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the consulate office.

The Montgomery County Council and Radio America have entered a partnership that provides the Latino community with key information on issues and programs. The partnership also provides a forum for residents to express their views and ask questions. The partnership includes the weekly one-hour show each Friday on the Washington metropolitan area’s most popular Spanish language station.

Each week, the show features host Marcela Rodriguez, Council program manager and public information officer, and guests talking about important issues before the Council and provides information about programs offered by the County to help residents.
