ROCKVILLE, Md., October 9, 2015—Montgomery County Councilmember Sidney Katz will be the featured guest TODAY on En Sintonía con el Concejo del Condado de Montgomery (Tuned In with the Montgomery County Council), a weekly show on Radio America (WACA 1540 AM). The show recently debuted a new 60-minute format starting at the new time of 2:30 p.m. Among the topics he will talk about are public safety, the Aspen Hill area, the location of early voting centers and the recently approved bill that will ban the future use of pesticides on lawns.

There will be two additional guests on today’s show. One will be Oscar Alvarenga, a parent very active on Latino issues in Montgomery County Public Schools. He is the PTA president of the school his children attend and won the PTA President of the Year Award in June 2015. He also is the Gaithersburg school cluster’s representative to the Montgomery County Council of PTAs.

The other guest will be Monica Reyes-Dame, who is one of the founders of the Aspen Hill Homeowners Association. She attended a recent community meeting Councilmember Katz held on issues in the Aspen Hill area. She has been active in monitoring development plans regarding the Aspen Hill area.

The Montgomery County Council and Radio America have entered into a partnership that provides the Latino community with key information on issues and programs. The partnership also provides a forum for residents to express views and ask questions of Councilmembers. The partnership includes the weekly show each Friday on the Washington Region's most popular Spanish language station.

The expanded format of the show to 60 minutes starting at 2:30 p.m. will allow for additional guests and more phone calls from listeners each week.

Each week, the show features guests talking about important issues before the Council and occasionally the show provides information about programs offered by the County to help residents and businesses.

In addition to the radio broadcast, the show can be heard via the Internet at: http://radioamerica.net/en-vivo/ . Video links with a summary of the show are available each week at the County Council's web site at: www.montgomerycountymd.gov/council .
