Montgomery Charter Review Commission to discuss

request for recommendation on

term limit proposal on Wednesday, Aug. 24

Public invited to comment and attend meeting in Rockville

that will address November ballot question to limit

Councilmembers and County Executive to three terms

 

ROCKVILLE, Md., August 3, 2016—The Montgomery County Charter Review Commission (CRC) at its next meeting at 8 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 24, will discuss the proposed Charter amendment to limit County Councilmembers and the County Executive to three consecutive terms. The County Council asked the CRC to consider the merits of the proposed amendment, and on Aug. 2 adopted a resolution placing it on the November ballot, where voters will be asked to approve or disapprove it.

 

The CRC meeting will be held in the Fifth Floor Conference Room of the County Council Office Building at 100 Maryland Avenue in Rockville.

 

All meetings of the CRC are open to the public and residents are invited to make comments on the business of the CRC at the start of each meeting. Comments supporting or opposing the term limits proposal can be made at the Aug. 24 meeting or via e-mail.

 

Residents who plan to attend the meeting and who wish to speak are asked to inform the CRC in advance via e-mail.

 

Some members of the CRC may submit documents to support their position on term limits. Residents can request copies of the documents in advance.
