Hundreds of volunteers representing more than 50 organizations will provide services such as free medical screenings, eye exams, legal services, tax assistance, substance abuse and mental health counseling at the Nadim Khan Memorial Homeless Resource Day on Thursday, November 17, 2016. The event will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Activity Center at Bohrer Park, 506 South Frederick Avenue in Gaithersburg. The resource fair provides Montgomery County residents who are homeless or at risk of homelessness with a one-stop opportunity to access resources and services. Free haircuts and manicures will also be offered and attendees will also be provided with winter clothing such as coats.
During the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments one-day count of the homeless population in January 2016, there were 981 homeless individuals counted in Montgomery County.
Free lunch and Ride-On bus transportation will be provided. Bi-lingual and sign language interpreting services will be available. Individuals needing other services or aids to participate should call 240-777-4565, Maryland Relay 7-1-1 or email [email protected].
