Office of Consumer Protection Co-sponsors Multi-agency Forum to kick-off National Consumer Protection Week

Montgomery County’s Office of Consumer Protection (OCP) is co-hosting a public forum with Sen. Chris Van Hollen and Maryland Attorney General Brian Frosh titled, “Protecting Your Consumer Rights: What You Need to Know.” The forum will be held on Thursday, March 1, 2018, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Bethesda–Chevy Chase High School, 4301 East-West Highway in Bethesda. 

 

OCP has been ensuring integrity in our marketplace for more than four decades,” said OCP Director Eric Friedman. “We are honored to collaborate with consumer champions Sen. Van Hollen and Attorney General Frosh and other regulatory agencies to share valuable information with concerned residents. It’s a great way to kick-off National Consumer Protection Week which runs March 4-10.”

 

Representatives from Federal, State and County agencies and consumer organizations will participate in the forum to provide information.  In addition to OCP, exhibitors include:

Van Hollen and Frosh will provide updates from Capitol Hill and the State of Maryland and take questions from the audience.  Forum attendees will have an opportunity to talk to experts and gather information from the exhibitors.

The Office of Consumer Protection (OCP) investigates thousands of complaints each year involving new home purchases, home improvements, credit issues, automotive sales and repairs, retail sales, Internet services and most other consumer transactions.
