Montgomery County Office of Procurement Earns 2018 Achievement of Excellence Award

For Immediate Release: Tuesday, July 31, 2018

Montgomery County’s Office of Procurement has earned the Achievement of Excellence in Procurement (AEP) Award from the National Procurement Institute (NPI) for the sixth consecutive year.

The AEP award honors public and nonprofit organizations that obtain a high application score based on standardized criteria. This award recognizes innovation, professionalism, e-procurement, productivity and leadership in public procurement operations and best practices.

“Montgomery County is one of only six agencies in Maryland and one of only 45 counties in the United States and Canada to receive the award,” said Montgomery County Executive Ike Leggett. “This is an outstanding achievement that exemplifies the excellence that Montgomery County delivers year after year.”

The procurement office is the purchasing agent for Montgomery County Government. The office is responsible for buying almost one billion dollars in goods, services, and construction each year.

“The Office of Procurement is proud to receive this award recognizing our adherence to national standards and compliance with best practices,” said Cherri Branson, director of the Office of Procurement.
