MCDOT Closes Talbot Avenue Pedestrian Bridge in Silver Spring

For Immediate Release: Thursday, December 20, 2018

After a routine inspection on December 19 identified a damaged support beam, the Montgomery County Department of Transportation (MCDOT) closed the Talbot Avenue bridge to pedestrian traffic.

The bridge runs over the CSX railroad tracks between Hanover Street and Lanier Drive in the Silver Spring/Brookville area. Brookeville Road is the closest alternate route for pedestrians to get across the railroad tracks.

MCDOT is working with CSX to develop a plan to repair the bridge. As soon as CSX authorizes work to begin, MCDOT will make the repairs and reopen the bridge to pedestrians.
