For Immediate Release: Monday, February 25, 2019
Older adults, interested residents, and non-profit organizations and businesses serving older adults are invited to a public forum on Tuesday, March 19. The forum, sponsored by the Commission on Aging, aims to enlighten attendees and members of the Commission on Aging about the challenges faced by older adults who identify with various communities. Following a panel discussion, participants will hear from local experts and share questions and views about living and aging well in Montgomery County.
The forum will be held at the Silver Spring Civic Building, located at 1 Veterans Plaza in downtown Silver Spring from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The Civic Building is accessible by public transportation and is across the street from the Ellsworth Drive parking garage.
County Executive Marc Elrich’s vision is “a more equitable and inclusive Montgomery County.” Such a community allows residents to thrive at any age. The County Executive will share his vision during opening remarks. Leaders from diverse communities will shed light on challenges faced by members of their communities. During breakout sessions, participants will interact with representatives of both community organizations and County programs working to meet the varied needs of the county’s older adult residents.
Resource information and refreshments will be available. The event is free but reservations are requested. Register with Tremayne Jones at [email protected] or at 240-777-1262. Sign language interpreters and other auxiliary aids or services will be provided upon request.
