Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich will be among the speakers at the sixth annual Montgomery County Energy Summit, which will be held from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Wednesday, April 3, at the Silver Spring Civic Building.  The Energy Summit focuses on promoting commercial energy efficiency and the use of clean energy in the County and the Washington, D.C.-Maryland-Virginia region.

The summit will be co-hosted by Montgomery County Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) and the US Green Building Council National Capital Region (USGBC NCR).

The Silver Spring Civic Building is located at 1 Veterans Plaza in Downtown Silver Spring. It is accessible from the Metro Red Line at the Silver Spring station. Tickets will be available at the door for $75.

County Executive Elrich’s will talk about how businesses and building owners can work together with the County to help achieve the County’s energy goals.

This year's summit will include a keynote address by Chis Pyke, vice president of products at Arc Skoru. His company helps clients achieve green building certification and measure project performance. The full day will have educational sessions, an exhibitor hall, breakfast and lunch and a post-event networking reception.

The theme of this year’s Energy Summit is "Focus on the Here & Now," highlighting how existing building owners can improve the performance of their commercial buildings to reduce energy use and help the County achieve carbon neutrality by 2035.

The Energy Summit includes in-depth, educational workshops on innovative case studies, building commissioning approaches, renewable energy technologies, financing opportunities for green buildings, sustainable building strategies and County and other regional commercial energy efficiency programs. The Energy Summit will offer much for building owners, property managers, energy contractors working in the County, young professionals in the energy field or anyone interested in sustainable commercial buildings.

Following the Energy Summit, United Therapeutics will host a post-event networking reception from 4-7 p.m. at the Unisphere, its newest net-zero energy building. The Unisphere is located nearby the Civic Building at 1000 Spring Street in Silver Spring. This reception is included with registration to the Energy Summit, but tickets to the reception also can be purchased separately.
