Council President Navarro offers condolences for family and friends of Montgomery County Police Officer Kyle Olinger

ROCKVILLE, Md., Apr. 23, 2019—Montgomery County Council President Nancy Navarro made the following statement on behalf of the Council on the passing of Montgomery County Police Officer Kyle Olinger. On April 18, 2019, Officer Olinger passed away after succumbing to complications of a gunshot wound sustained on August 13, 2003 while making a traffic stop in Silver Spring. He is survived by his wife and two sons.

“I offer my heartfelt condolences to the family of Officer Kyle Olinger, who passed away on April 18 after having been paralyzed more than fifteen years ago in a senseless act of gun violence. My fellow Councilmembers and I feel a deep sadness at this tragic loss. His sacrifice will be forever remembered, and I hope that the outpouring of love to his family will help in some small way during this extremely difficult time. Our men and women in the Montgomery County Police Department risk their lives each day to protect our community.”
