Press Releases - Department of Transportation

For Immediate Release: Wednesday, September 11, 2019

MCDOT Director Roshdieh and team listen to question from Silver Spring Citizens Advisory Board member Michelle Foster.

MCDOT addressed the Silver Spring Citizens Advisory Board (CAB) along with about two dozen Silver Spring residents on Monday evening to provide a high-level update on the work of the Department in the Silver Spring area. MCDOT Director Al Roshdieh, with senior staff representing the Department’s various divisions, reviewed ongoing initiatives to advance the department’s key priorities, with a special emphasis on the work in progress in Silver Spring. The briefing covered transit, roads, bike and pedestrian infrastructure and parking, as well as the impact of ongoing state projects.  A lively question and answer session followed the presentation during which the Board and residents highlighted local concerns.

The briefing was the first in a series that MCDOT has scheduled this fall with all the regional CABs.

“The work of the more than 1300 MCDOT employees touches everyone in Montgomery County, from our transit network to our roads and pedestrian and bike infrastructure and more,” said MCDOT Director Al Roshdieh. “I am proud of the Department’s progress in providing an effective, efficient transportation system, and the community’s feedback will help us further improve our services.”

MCDOT will brief the West County CAB next Monday, September 17, and the Mid-County CAB on Tuesday, October 15. An Up-County CAB briefing is scheduled for October 21.
