Ride On Announces Long-Term Bus Route Modifications

For Immediate Release: Tuesday, October 1, 2019

Ride On regularly assesses the need for service improvements and adjustments, and makes changes when needed.  The following routes have been modified to address long-term detours due to construction activities:

• Route 79 to Clarksburg: from 355, right on Clarksburg Road, left on Gateway Center Drive, back on route. 
• Route 73 to Clarksburg: stay on Stringtown Road, left on 355, left on Clarksburg Road, left on Gateway Center Drive, back on route. Detour planned until June 2020.

• When leaving Wheaton Metro, Routes7,8,9 & 31 will turn right onto Veirs Mill Road, then right onto University Boulevard to get back on route. Buses will pick up passengers at Veirs Mill Road and Grandview Avenue and University Boulevard and Fern Street. Detour planned through 2020.

• Will use Piney Branch Road to Philadelphia Avenue to Takoma Avenue to Fenton Street, in both directions from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. DAILY ONLY, until further notice. Detour planned until December 2019. 

• Route 39 to Briggs Chaney: from Briggs Chaney Road, left on Aston Manor Drive, left on Gateshead Manor Way, pick up and discharge at temporary bus stop at Hampton Point Drive. 
• Route 129 in both directions: from Briggs Chaney Road, left on Aston Manor Drive, left on Gateshead Manor Way, pick up and discharge at temporary bus stop at Hampton Point Drive. Detour planned until November 2019.

• Starting on January 28, 2020, through June 2020, Route 73 will detour to avoid construction at Clarksburg Road and W. Old Baltimore Road. Use Clarksburg Road to Broadway Avenue to Bryne Park Drive to Clarksburg Road. Detour planned until June 2020.
• Route 73 will use Broadway Avenue to Bryne Park Road back on Clarksburg Road to MD 355. Then go down to MD 355 turn left then left onto Clarksburg Road and layover at Clarksburg Road and Gateway Center Drive to start trips to Shady Grove due to the circle being closed. Detour planned until June 2020.

• From Reedie Drive, buses will turn left onto Georgia Avenue, then make the right turn onto Veirs Mill Road, into the station. Detour planned through 2020.
