ROCKVILLE, Md., Feb. 27, 2020—Council President Sidney Katz issued the following statement on behalf of the Council regarding the passing of housing and education advocate Ruby Rubens who died this morning at the age of 86.
Today as the Council mourns the loss of Ruby Rubens, we are thinking of her family and the impact she made on our community. She was truly a friend who advocated on behalf of so many of our residents. Her knowledge and expertise in the areas of education, housing and equity was invaluable and helped to guide who we are as a County today. She shared her wisdom generously and always did so with an eye towards a brighter future. We will miss her guidance, laughter and tenacity. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family.
