Guidance for growing women-owned businesses and importance of filing taxes are focus of prerecorded “The Civic Moment/El Momento Cívico,” today at 2 p.m. on Radio America

ROCKVILLE, Md., March 6, 2020—Mayra Cruz-Solís, civic engagement specialist and Hispanic outreach liaison with the Montgomery County Council; Martha P. Jimenez, MBA, senior business counselor and trainer with the Women’s Business Center; and Diana Avellaneda, CEO of DAPA Multiservice Advisory, will be the featured guests of “The Civic Moment / El Momento Cívico” on En Sintonía con El Concejo del Condado de Montgomery (In Tune with the Montgomery County Council), airing today, March 6 at 2 p.m. on Radio America (WILC 900AM). The guests will discuss how to start, sustain and grow small businesses in Montgomery, as well as the importance for small businesses of correctly filing taxes. This prerecorded program originally aired on Feb. 21.

“El Momento Cívico/The Civic Moment” is one component of Councilmember Navarro’s Latino Civic Project that features topics related to civic engagement and understanding the various functions of County government. Councilmember Navarro started the Latino Civic Project in 2012 to promote and strengthen civic participation among Latinos and immigrants. The Montgomery County Council and Radio America have entered a partnership that provides the Latino community with key information on issues and programs. The partnership also provides a forum for residents to express views and ask questions. The partnership includes the weekly one-hour show each Friday on the Washington metropolitan area’s most popular Spanish language station. Lilian Mass is the show’s host.

Each week, the show features guests talking about important issues before the Council and provides information about programs offered by the County to help residents.
