MCDOT Designates Free Temporary Parking at Two Garages in Bethesda and Silver Spring to Support Residents During COVID-19 Emergency

For Immediate Release: Tuesday, March 17, 2020

Montgomery County’s Department of Transportation (MCDOT), in an effort to support residents whose usual patterns have been disrupted by the COVID-19 emergency, today announced that it has established free parking in two County-owned parking garages.

As the County requests residents to continue to avoid unnecessary travel, the Bonifant/Dixon Garage 5/55 in Silver Spring and Auburn/Del Ray Garage 36 in Bethesda will temporarily not require payment as residents seek parking solutions to minimize the financial impacts of the COVID-19 emergency.

The free parking options reflect County Executive Marc Elrich’s pledge to help residents who face financial difficulties in response to emergency closures impacting local jobs.

The garages that will have temporary free parking include the Bonifant/Dixon Garage at 1101 Bonifant St. in Silver Spring. Entrances to the garage are located on Bonifant Street and Dixon Avenue. The other garage is the Auburn/Del Ray Garage at 4910 Auburn Ave. in Bethesda. Entrances for that garage are on Del Ray Avenue and Auburn Avenue.
