Council President Katz to host business and economic development briefing on Zoom on Friday, May 1 at 12:30 p.m.

ROCKVILLE, Md., April 29, 2020—Montgomery County Council President Sidney Katz will host an online business briefing for County residents on the online video communications platform Zoom on Friday, May 1 at 12:30 p.m. Council President Katz will share information with residents about the County’s ongoing efforts to support local businesses during the Covid-19 public health crisis, as well as the County’s planning for a sustained economic recovery.

Topics to be discussed include surviving an economic downturn as a small business, inspiring business owners to innovate and adapt during the Covid-19 crisis, and helping business owners access local, state and federal assistance to weather the crisis.

“As a former small business owner, I know the importance of local business to our economy and to our community,” said Council President Katz. “It is imperative that the County continues to support our businesses in every way possible.”

Council President Katz will be joined by Jerome Fletcher, assistant chief administrative officer for economic development for Montgomery County government, and Judy Stephenson, small business navigator for Montgomery County government.

Residents will also have the opportunity to submit questions in the Zoom chat during the question and answer portion of the briefing. Residents must register ahead of time by emailing Councilmember.Katz@MontgomeryCountyMD.Gov to participate. Residents will receive the Zoom call information by email when they register.
