Upcoming County Latino Forum, workers’ rights and June primary election are focus of “En Sintonía con el Concejo”, today at 2 p.m. on Radio America

ROCKVILLE, Md., May 15, 2020—Joseph A. Malouf, attorney and expert in labor rights; Lillian Crúz, deputy chief of staff with the Office of Councilmember Gabe Albornoz; and Diane Hibino, League of Women Voters of Montgomery County, will be the featured guests on this week’s En Sintonía con El Concejo del Condado de Montgomery (In Tune with the Montgomery County Council), airing today at 2 p.m. on Radio America (WILC 900AM). Joseph A. Malouf will discuss workers’ rights in the context of the Covid-19 public health crisis. Lillian Crúz will share information about the upcoming Montgomery County Latino Forum. Diane Hibino will share information about the June 2 primary election in Maryland, which will be conducted by mail.

The Latino Forum, spearheaded by Councilmembers Nancy Navarro and Gabe Albornoz, will take place tomorrow, Saturday, May 16 from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. on the Council’s Spanish-language facebook page. The forum is an opportunity for residents to learn about the medical and financial resources, rental and food assistance, and other resources available to them during the Covid-19 pandemic. Participants also will learn about workers’ rights, immigration and the federal public charge rule, among other topics.

The Montgomery County Council and Radio America have entered a partnership that provides the Latino community with key information on issues and programs. The partnership also provides a forum for residents to express views and ask questions. The partnership includes the weekly one-hour show each Friday on the Washington metropolitan area’s most popular Spanish language station. Lilian Mass is the show’s host.

Each week, the show features guests talking about important issues before the Council and provides information about programs offered by the County to help residents.
