On June 16, Council to review, hold a public hearing and vote on Local Order 082-20 on Phase 2 Covid-19 Recovery

ROCKVILLE, Md., June 15, 2020--On Tuesday, June 16 at 9:30 a.m. the Council will meet to act on Executive Order 082-20, Covid-19 Local Order - Phase 2, after holding a public hearing.  If the Council approves the Executive Order, they will also approve it as a Board of Health Regulation sitting as the Board of Health.  Executive Order 082-20 would lift the stay at home order and begin Phase 2 Recovery for Montgomery County beginning at 5 p.m. on June 19. The Council's public hearing and review of Local Order 082-20 is expected to begin at 11:15 a.m.

Phase 2 allows additional businesses and activities to start and/or increase modified operations under guidelines and with requirements for social distancing and careful cleaning as well as face coverings worn by employees and customers. Residents can view the local order here.

Due to the emergency related to Covid-19, the Council President has waived the notice requirement for this Board of Health regulation. During the state of emergency related to Covid-19, the public will not be physically present in the Council Hearing Room for public hearings. The public can participate in the process by providing written, audio and video testimony on the Council's website at www.montgomerycountymd.gov/council
