Councilmembers Gabe Albornoz, Will Jawando, Nancy Navarro and Craig Rice partner with Montgomery County Recreation to host virtual Youth Town Hall

Focus will be on positive youth engagement Tonight at 7 p.m.

ROCKVILLE, Md., June 17, 2020—Montgomery County Councilmembers Gabe Albornoz, Will Jawando, Nancy Navarro and Craig Rice are partnering with Montgomery County Recreation to host a virtual youth town hall tonight from 7 p.m. to 8:15 p.m. to help young people address the ongoing conversations and public protests regarding social justice and racial equity. County residents ages 14-23 are invited to take part and share their strategies for implementing change on issues that concern them.

The youth town hall will be facilitated by radio personality Angie Ange of “The Morning Hustle” from WKYS 93.9 FM. The following special guests will also be present during this virtual discussion: Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich, Montgomery County Police Chief Marcus Jones, and Board of Education President Shebra Evans.

The town hall will serve as a platform for young people to express their views and demonstrates that Montgomery County leaders focused on ensuring that these opportunities exist. Participating students will have the opportunity to earn one and a half student service learning (SSL) hours.
