ROCKVILLE, Md., July 9, 2020—Mayra Cruz-Solís, civic engagement specialist and Hispanic outreach liaison with the Montgomery County Council; Jennifer Arnaiz, manager of the Montgomery County Childcare Resource and Referral Center (MCCRRC); Martha Jimenez, Maryland Women Business Center Counselor and Christopher Mata, Maryland Health Connection Specialist will be the featured guests of “The Civic Moment / El Momento Cívico” on En Sintonía con El Concejo del Condado de Montgomery (In Tune with the Montgomery County Council), airing tomorrow at 2 p.m. on Radio America (WILC 900AM). Ms. Arnaiz will discuss the services offered by MCCRRC and how they are impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic. Ms. Jimenez will share information about how childcare and early education providers can access County financial assistance as this critical sector of the economy looks to recover from the financial impact of Covid-19. Mr.Mata. Kling will share information about the importance of acquiring medical coverage during the special enrollment period that will end on July 15. “El Momento Cívico/The Civic Moment” is one component of Councilmember Navarro’s Latino Civic Project that features topics related to civic engagement and understanding the various functions of County government. Councilmember Navarro started the Latino Civic Project in 2012 to promote and strengthen civic participation among Latinos and immigrants. The Montgomery County Council and Radio America have entered a partnership that provides the Latino community with key information on issues and programs. The partnership also provides a forum for residents to express views and ask questions. The partnership includes the weekly one-hour show each Friday on the Washington metropolitan area’s most popular Spanish language station. Lilian Mass is the show’s host.
Each week, the show features guests talking about important issues before the Council and provides information about programs offered by the County to help residents.

“El Momento Cívico” es un componente del Proyecto Cívico Latino de la Concejal Nancy Navarro en el cual se abordan temas relacionados con el compromiso cívico y las diversas funciones del gobierno del Condado. La Concejal Navarro inició el Proyecto Cívico Latino en 2012 para promover y fortalecer la participación cívica entre Latinos e inmigrantes.
El Concejo del Condado de Montgomery y Radio América se han asociado para proporcionar a la comunidad Latina información clave sobre temas que le conciernen.
