Council public hearings scheduled for Tuesday, July 28 at 1:30 p.m.

The Montgomery County Council will hold public hearings on Tuesday, July 28, 2020 at 1:30 p.m. on the following special appropriations. The deadline to sign up to speak is July 27 at 5 p.m.

  • Special Appropriation to the County Government’s FY21 Operating Budget, Department of Health and Human Services Behavioral Health and Crisis Prevention, Crisis Prevention and Intervention Services - $395,000 for Montgomery County Hotline (Source of Funds: Federal Grant and General Fund Reserves) and Amendment to Fiscal Year 2021 Operating Budget Resolution 19-472 Section G, FY21 Designation of Entities for Non-Competitive Contract Award Status: EveryMind.
  • Special Appropriation to the County Government’s FY21 Operating Budget, COVID-19 Human Services and Community Assistance Non-Departmental Account (NDA) - $20,000,000 for COVID-19 Response: Rental Assistance and Eviction and Homelessness Prevention. Source of Funds: Federal Grant Funds.
  • Special Appropriation to the County Government’s FY21 Operating Budget, Conference and Visitors Bureau NDA, Support for COVID-19 Response - Hospitality and Tourism Support, $200,000. Source of Funds: Federal Grant Funds.
  • Special Appropriation to the County Government’s FY21 Operating Budget, Community Engagement Cluster, Office of Community Partnerships - $296,436 for 2020 Census Grant Program. Source of Funds: General Fund Reserves.
  • Special Appropriation to the County Government’s FY21 Operating Budget for COVID-19 Human Services and Community Assistance NDA - $7,545,590; for Por Nuestra Salud y Bienestar (For Our Health and Wellbeing). Source of Funds: Federal Grant ($6,593,042) and General Fund Reserves ($952,548)

NOTE: During the Covid-19 state of emergency, the public is not able to be physically present in the Council Hearing Room. Residents who would like to call in to testify at a Council public hearing need to preregister on the Council’s web page at https://www.montgomerycountymd.gov/council/calendar.html. Once the public hearing sign up request form is submitted and the public hearing list is created, individuals will receive separate confirmation notifications that include the appropriate phone number to call for the public hearing.

Community members also have the option to provide audio, video and written testimony to the Council using a recently developed online testimony form on the Council’s web page which can be found at https://www.montgomerycountymd.gov/COUNCIL/PHSignUp.html. The testimony provided with the online option carries the same weight as testimony given at a public hearing. Councilmembers consider all comments as part of their deliberations.
