Office of Procurement Receives Three National Association of Counties Awards

For Immediate Release: Friday, October 2, 2020

The Montgomery County Office of Procurement received three National Association of Counties (NACo) achievement awards in the categories of Information Technology and Transportation. The annual Achievement Award Program recognizes efforts by local jurisdictions that promote responsible, responsive, and effective County government initiatives. “The Office of Procurement is committed to better government through transparency,” said Procurement Director Ash Shetty. “These initiatives demonstrate the commitment to transparency in the procurement process. We worked with several departments to achieve these goals at low or no cost.”

The NACo award-winning Procurement initiatives include:

• Visualizing the Solicitation Process with Kanban – Information Technology Category
  Director Ash Shetty, Sheronda Baltimore
  The Kanban application was developed and is maintained in-house at no cost and was fully implemented in one month.

• Solicitation Tracker – Transparency in Public Procurement – Information Technology Category Office of Procurement and Department of Technology Services (DTS)
  Director Ash Shetty, Sheronda Baltimore, DTS Contractor Sam Narula
  The solicitation tracker enables public search of solicitation status from issuance to execution.
  
  
• Construction Manager at Risk Project Delivery System – Transportation Category Office of Procurement and Department of Transportation (MCDOT)
  Pam Jones, Bob Norris, and MCDOT’s Marcelo Cortez
  The development of this new process was managed so it integrated within the existing law; thereby, minimizing legislative changes while allowing a more innovative method for these types of projects.
