County Hosts Wheaton Community Day

For Immediate Release: Thursday, August 23, 2007

Montgomery County’s Department of Recreation will host Wheaton Community Day on Saturday, September 8, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., at the Wheaton Community Center, 11711 Georgia Avenue. The event will be held rain or shine.

The free event is designed for families to participate in fun, healthy activities. Karate, aerobics and Tai Chi demonstrations will be given by center instructors, and the Mystery Academy will perform a magic show. Children’s activities include arts and crafts, moon bounce and face painting.

Representatives from several community organizations, including the WIC (Women, Infant & Children) Program, Maryland Multicultural Youth Centers, and the County’s Department of Health and Human Services will be on hand with information about their services.
