ROCKVILLE, Md., Feb. 5, 2021—Council Vice President Gabe Albornoz; Dr. Michelle LaRue, senior manager of health and social services with CASA; Diego Uriburu, executive director of Identity, Inc.; and Daniel Parra, director of business diversity and inclusion with the Montgomery County Economic Development Corporation, will be the featured guests on this week’s En Sintonia con El Concejo del Condado de Montgomery (In Tune with the Montgomery County Council), airing today at 2 p.m. on Radio America (WILC 900AM).

Council Vice President Albornoz, who represents all of Montgomery County as an at-large Councilmember and who chairs the Council’s Health and Human Services Committee, will discuss a new bill which he introduced on Jan. 19. Bill 4-21 aims to prohibit the use and sale of ghost guns, which poses a significant threat to public safety, to the greatest extent possible consistent with state law. All Councilmembers have cosponsored Council Vice President Albornoz’s bill.

Dr. LaRue and Mr. Uriburu will discuss countywide vaccination efforts, as well as a virtual vaccination town hall event for the Latino community on Feb. 8 at 7 p.m. Council Vice President Albornoz, Councilmember Nancy Navarro, County Executive Marc Elrich, Dr. Travis Gayles and health experts from the Por Tu Salud y Bienestar initiative will join this Spanish-language town hall and provide residents with critical, up-to-date information about the vaccine distribution process.

Finally, Mr. Parra will share information about Phase Two of the County’s Restaurant Relief Grant Program, which provides grants of up to $10,000 to eligible County restaurants and other food-service businesses that have been adversely impacted by the global pandemic.

The Montgomery County Council and Radio America have entered a partnership that provides the Latino community with key information on issues and programs. The partnership also provides a forum for residents to express views and ask questions. The partnership includes the weekly one-hour show each Friday on the Washington metropolitan area’s most popular Spanish language station. Lilian Mass is the show’s host.

Each week, the show features guests talking about important issues before the Council and provides information about programs offered by the County to help residents.
